About Art Walk

The North Beaches Art Walk is a monthly event orchestrated by the North Beaches Art Walk Association, a non profit organization 501 (c)(3) based in Atlantic Beach, FL.

Since its beginning in October of 2007, the North Beaches Art Walk has continued to receive positive support from the community, and has an ever-growing list of participating merchants and artists. Spread the word - and hope to see you at the next Art Walk!

As a non-profit, NBAW strives to support other local non-profits. We allow one non-profit a month to set up an informational table in front of Archway Gallery to promote themselves, and to sell art as a fundraiser.  (More Details)

Functional Art Pottery

e-mail: lisaproper@gmail.com

Lisa Proper is a home based studio potter based in Switzerland, Florida. Lisa has studied under several local potters and continues to take courses from master potters from around the country. After retirement from Speech Pathology in 2007, she has devoted herself to enriching her pottery skills. Lisa throws most all of her pieces on the wheel.

Almost all people use pottery in their everyday lives, but only a handful of individuals use handmade pottery on a daily bases. It seems that even if we own a favorite piece of handmade pottery, its main use is to sit on a shelf and look attractive and maybe get used on a special occasion. The pottery pieces that I predominantly make are unique, one of a kind, yet functional pieces that are meant to be used every day. I tend to make pieces that are not readily available in stores such as course salt cellars with spoon slots, berry bowls, garlic jars, etc. However, my favorite pieces to make are pitchers and teapots. I am always experimenting with different glaze types and colorants. By sharing my pottery with others, I hope that more people will actually use art in their everyday lives.
