About Art Walk

The North Beaches Art Walk is a monthly event orchestrated by the North Beaches Art Walk Association, a non profit organization 501 (c)(3) based in Atlantic Beach, FL.

Since its beginning in October of 2007, the North Beaches Art Walk has continued to receive positive support from the community, and has an ever-growing list of participating merchants and artists. Spread the word - and hope to see you at the next Art Walk!

As a non-profit, NBAW strives to support other local non-profits. We allow one non-profit a month to set up an informational table in front of Archway Gallery to promote themselves, and to sell art as a fundraiser.  (More Details)

Marilyn KinsellTwo necklaces - Saturn Eclipse: Ball-bearing and Leadfoot: a decorated washer

Worn Metal

http://www.WornMetal.com

The company, Worn Metal Inc., is based mainly on using hardware for the jewelry and paperweight line. Quality flat-back Swarovski Crystal Elements® are glued onto washers, nuts, and screws. The jewelry pieces are finished off using findings. Findings (for those who don't know), are components that help put your jewelry pieces together. Almost all of Worn Metal findings are made of sterling silver. These findings are composed of jump rings, chain, earring wire or posts, and bracelets of varying styles.

In this picture what we have are two pieces. ‘Saturn Eclipse’ is really a ball-bearing that is hanging from a stainless steel chain. The outer band of Saturn is covered in 7ss flat-back crystals, the top and bottom rim are also covered using 5ss crystals. The finding holding the pendant to the chain has a sterling silver ‘head pin’ inserted through the middle with green glass beads to fill the interior space (you can not tell are there); the bottom has an 8mm sterling silver bead to sit into the cap for look and stability. Finally the top of the ‘head pin’ is twisted around with a jump ring added before it is closed off to make a sealed loop. The chain is now inserted through the jump ring and voila… a necklace unlike any other!

The second piece is a finding I found in an auto parts store. It is considered a washer is elliptic in shape and made of stainless steel. It is covered with varying size flat-backs from 5ss to 12ss. The piece is covered on one side, has jump rings (three to be exact), so it too can be hung as a necklace, and is hung on an 18 inch satin cord.

Nothing can be more enjoyable than creating these unusual, fun pieces of art.

Enjoy;
